H2H Shop - Introducing a Horse Named Star

I’ve had horses all my life as did my dad before me. I’m sure that’s where my love and passion for the four legged creatures came from. What I know from listening to him as with my own stories, is the rides that went smooth, with no hick ups were rarely the ones we talked about. It’s the ones where things didn’t quite go as planned that will forever remain in our memories and end up being the stories we tell.
I want to share some of those stories with you and maybe they will inspire you to do the same.
I was fortunate to have many special horses throughout my life each still holds a special place in my heart. One of those special creatures was a horse name Star. Star was a sorrel Welsh quarter horse pony. She was about 12 hands high with a white star on her forehead, hence her name. We bought her at a local auction and from the moment I saw her I knew she was special. Star had been part of a Trail riding string and little did we know, she had no clue about moving out on her own. All she had ever done was follow the horse in front of her. It took a few struggles and my dad on crutches before we realized what the problem was. Slowly though, with time, love and patients she together we figured it out. From then on we were the closest of friends. I loved her as much as she loved me.
I have many fond memories of Star, she was a little horse with a big heart. We had fun competing in Gymkanas, trail riding with friends and pack trips in the mountains with my dad. It was on one of pack trips when Star had a horrible accident and we weren’t sure if she’d live……but this is another story for another post.
